Originally starting out in 1995 under the moniker of Skalicious, founding members Andrew Gorski (vocals), Ken Barnum (bass), and Nick Hughes (drums) would eventually change their name to 33 West after realizing that no one would ever take them seriously.
Without letting go of their ska roots, additional influences of reggae, soul, and pop-punk would be incorporated into their sound as heard on their 1999 full-length debut of Snacks. With the eventual recruitment of trumpeter Dave McGraw, trombonist Jacob Walters, and guitarist Joe Nelson, 33 West's follow-up EP, No Cash No Problems, came out the next year. ~ Mike DaRonco
